Daily Drawing #76
I swiped the zip-a-tone from the Abbie and Slats panel below. Written initially by Al Capp and illustrated by Raeburn Van Buren, I bought a handful of these from an art dealer a few years ago for twenty dollars apiece. I wish I had bought more. The dealer had 3000 of them, probably a significant portion of the thirty-four years run.

Camberwell Haul #9 + Comical Rambling
An old Knockout Fun Book from 1952 filled with ye olde English comic strips and stories. Billy Bunter on the cover is also featured in the Valiant comics published 12 years later with stories by Reg Parlett. I picked up a couple Reg Parlett Bunter pages on Ebay recently, looking forward to seeing his original lines up close.

On my trip home from recent Camberwell treks I've been catching up with Marty Trengove, Comicker behind Roscoe the Dawg, Ace Detective, he's been great to chat with about Australian comics past and present. Today I warned him of the perils of watching The Human Centipede.
This is how I file my comix/gag notes/fevered ramblings and original pages, I've tried many systems but always come back to this one.
Seen Warwick Johnson Cadwell's work? I'm really looking forward to his book, Gungle, forthcoming from Blank Slate press in 2012. Gungle previews below yoinked from Forbidden Planet Blog. Checkout his blog.
Been inking with a brush a fair bit of late here are some ink markings

Boring Hack Daily Drawing #64

Monday 6th June
Picked up a few books for ten clams at the local Salvation Army. One of the better Salvo's for books and comics in Melbourne, I pop in two or three times a week and find all sorts of treasures. I have a few Murray Ball collections of work pre: Footrot Flats so was delighted to find his Bruce the Barbarian book. A three clam copy of the complete Persepolis will make a good gift for someone. Two Astro Boy Tezuka collections from Dark Horse, the stories don't appeal much to me, I prefer his Buddha and Black Jack series but I had to buy these for a pittance of clams to look at the art. Also could not resist grabbing an ACE double sci-fi book with a novel by Dean R. Koontz backed with Susan K. Putney
These two songs from the Footrot Flats Movie are fantastic! What a great film too.
My dad looks like one of THE HERBS as kids would constantly point out to me when I was a youngster.
Here is a picture of me dressed up as a bunny rabbit.
This is what white people in Melbourne are talking about at the moment.

The Weekend 4-5 June 2011
I bought a copy of Colin Wilson's recent French book Qui a tué le président ? He drew a great sketch in the front as is the fashion in Europe.
Plant found behind my table at the Emerging Writers Festival 2011 Page Parlour.

Here is a cool English comic I picked up at the Camberwell Fair today. It has some great Leo Baxendale cartoons and a Ken Reid Frankie-stein strip.

here is a cool Gold Key UFO comic I bought for 2 clams at Camberwell market today
Here is an Irishman's wallet I found on the way to Camberwell this morning. I found him on facebook and messaged him to return it. I havn't heard back yet. I've found 4 or 5 wallets and purses in the last four years.
Here are some nice white people dining at the Crown Casino as is the fashion in Melbourne.
