Philipino Comics

Picked up a bunch of bizarre philipino comics today, cloistered amongst piles of old books and magazines in a small cafe in Collingwood. I'm not sure what language they're in but some comics have characters that speak in partial english which is a bit odd. Some strangely violent stories and a lot of Alfredo Alcala-ish artwork too which is nice.

Comic Previews

Working on a bunch of comic strips at once in an attempt to try some new working methods. Most of these should turn up on guzumocomics in the next couple weeks.

Australia

I bike past this billboard everyday at work and can't help but crack up every time I see it. I can imagine what they were saying when they shot the photo for it, "You put your head down next to my fist and I'll stretch my arm out like I'm punching the fuck out of your face!" "Yeah that's great! That's totally Reality Based Self Defence!"

The best part though is the mascot below, a kangaroo in a padded vest with a sword on his back and knife and gun in his hands, yeah that just screams 'reality based'! Personally I think I'll just stick with Karate.

Side Project

As well as working my day job, making my usual comics and doing the Supernova cons here in a Australia, I have been working on a two page story for Auckland's Fleet FM Comic Mag, Radio as Paper. The story I had in mind was around 5 or 6 pages but I managed to condense all 42 panels into 2 pages making for some dense looking pages. Here's a little scene from just before all the madness begins..
